ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Mohmmad Talani is a Berkeley-based musician and artist who has both performed independently and collaborated extensively with various bands and musicians including Mohsen Namjoo, Marcus Shelby, Eendoo, Kiosk, Ali Azimi, Shahrzad Sepanlou in roles of songwriter, producer and guitarist. As digital media director, he toured the globe for three years with Feathers of Fire, an award winning cinematic shadow play. He has directed and edited three seasons of Studio 13 a live music TV show featuring over 30 bands. Talan's new album, Kalam (Cauliflower), will be released in 2020.
Yahya Alkhansa Drums: Born on Dec 1981 in Tehran, Yahya started playing Tonbak at the age of 9. He played traditional music for 7 years before switching to drum set at the age of 16. He has toured with many Rock and world music bands including 127, Mohsen Namjoo, Kiosk, Abjeez, Ohum, Rana Mansour, Bree and the Whatevers, Varya, Alegba and Friends. Yahya has a bachelor of science from Azad University of Tehran in Metallurgy. He moved to the United States to pursue his education in Music. He studied advanced drum performance in New York City’s Collective School of Music and graduated in March 2013. He currently lives in Brooklyn, New York and is an active Music performer and educator.
Kasra Saboktakin: (Kass Bass) is one of Iran's prominent bass players, who has recorded and toured with a wide array of Iranian and international artists. He is a founding member of BARAD, a pioneering Iranian rock band that adeptly blended the musical essence of Iranian folk with Rock music. He is also credited with the frontiers of post revolution Iranian underground Rock music,O-HUM. He has played bass for Anoushirvan Rohani, Kaveh Yaghmaee’s band, Reza Derakhshani, 127, Mohsen Namjoo, Dang Show, Pejvak, Darkoob, Hack, Tehran symphonic orchestra, Shahrzad Sepanlou, Sara Naini’s quartet, and much more. Moreover, Kasra is recognized as a mentor for his years of educational contribution to Iranian younger bass players . He has more than 15 years of teaching experience and many of his former students have achieved success among the Iranian and international music community. Kasra's active career spans over two decades.
Ardalan Payvar: Ardalan Payvar is a Berkeley-based composer and keyboard, piano, and accordion player. A member of Eendo band, Ardalan Payvar moved to the United States in 1993. He studied Graphic Design and Fine Arts at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and has been working as a musician and a graphics designer/artist since then.
